This One's for the Thieves

For those of you with honor of the thieving variety...wait...I have that one wrong, don't I? Anywho, we know there is a stalwart group of Uncharted 2 multi-player types on CAG. So maybe you all have already logged onto your PS3's today and already have this update. If not, expect some downloading and installation time when next you handle your Uncharted 2 disc. The update looks like it is targeted to break the griefers bringing you all sorts of pain during your MP sessions:

* Changes made to multiplayer character skin system to allow for voices to be included with future skins
* Made changes to character game mechanics to prevent players from using exploits
* Fixed ability for players to “super throw” the treasure in Plunder matches
* Cash awarded per kill in Elimination has been increased to $750 per kill
* Enabled the ability for Naughty Dog to easily alter the amount of cash earned for individual Medals on a playlist or gametype basis and per-kill

Rewards have also been re-scaled to bring you more cheddar for teamwork and grabbing objectives in objective-based matches, but less for PvP kills. Check out the additional deets at the source if you like. Or just pop your disc in, grab the update, and get back to thieving.

Master Chief: "I'll Be Baack"

Experiencing some Master Chief withdrawal since everyone's favorite cyborg...android...Iron Man descendant...took his final bow at the end of Halo 3? Living in fear of what the current trend of Halo titles NOT starring Master Chief might portend? Butterflies (the bad kind) in your stomach since Bungie announced their newly inked deal for distribution with Activision?

Fear not; well, maybe continue to fear a little. 343 Industries, the internal Microsoft wing now responsible for the Halo IP, claims that we can all count on Master Chief returning. No word yet as to when, or in what kind of title...FPS, 3rdPS, RTS, action RPG...we might see the Master Chief show up in. Keep your eyes peeled, especially on the build-up to the launch of Reach.

Rumor: Microsoft Killed Plans For PC vs Xbox 360 Online Play

This article is from Rahul Sood, founder of Voodo PC, CTO of HP's Gaming Business

Rumor has it that there was a project many many months ago at Microsoft that was under wraps. The goal was to bridge XBOX gamers with PC Gamers so they could play against one another in games like Unreal, or Gears of War. This was all part of their Live strategy, and had Microsoft just stuck to their guns and made it work PC Gaming might be in a much better position than it is today.

There was a project that got killed at Microsoft. This project was designed to allow console gamers and PC gamers to interact and battle over a connected environment. Personally I wish it would have stayed the course. I've heard from reliable sources that during the development they brought together the best console gamers to play mediocre PC gamers at the same game... and guess what happened? They pitted console gamers with their "console" controller, against PC gamers with their keyboard and mouse.

Halo: Reach 'Forge World' and Firefight Versus Modes....

Note: Credit goes to JRock3x8 for the story, read on all you Halo fans, it's a good one. Oh, and check out the video (click on the link below), you'll like that too....

Halo: Reach 'Forge World' and Firefight Versus mode introduced at Comic-Con Bungie panel

Last night at Bungie's Comic-Con panel, the studio went "beyond the canyon" and revealed what's behind the hill in the Blood Gulch remake: "The rest of the map." Turns out this version of Blood Gulch, which will be known as "Hemorrhage" in Halo: Reach, is actually one part of a gigantic five-part map called "Forge World" -- there's an island in the back bay, an outcropping called "The Rock," a hangar built into the cliff overlooking the bay dubbed "The Colisseum," and an open field area up above. The entire map starts out blank, and players will be invited to build their own levels in it using Reach's revamped Forge editor mode.

"Forge World is the evolution of what we've been through with Forge," Bungie Community Lead Brian Jarrard told Joystiq at a Microsoft event following the panel. "How do we expand on it even further, and give people even more flexibility, and more toys to work with?" The answer: by combining very detailed and customizable tools with a variety of variables used in whatever ways players see fit, according to Jarrard. The Forge editor can now apply different physical models to pieces inserted on the map, leaving them fixed in mid-air or even half-embedded in other pieces. Additionally, spawn points can now be easily colored according to team, teleporters can be dropped at will and even customized for vehicles, and gigantic structures (like a multi-level tower) can be summoned and placed just about anywhere.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 outfitted with Boba Fett

image_id: 1147
Comic-Con 2010: LucasArts shows off extended demo of upcoming game, reveals early plot spoilers and teaser clip featuring infamous bounty hunter.

Who was there: LucasArts executive producer Haden Blackman took the podium, while a fellow Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II development team member took the controls of the demo.

What they talked about: Blackman discussed the game mechanics at length during an extended version of the demo they showed during GameSpot's live E3 stage show. Highlights included cinematic grapple moves that saw Starkiller jamming a lightsaber through a stormtrooper's gut and flinging him off into oblivion, as well as the Force Fury mode that amps up Starkiller's Jedi powers, including the crowd-favorite decapitating lightsaber throw. He also confirmed that holochrons, lightsaber crystals, and new costumes for Starkiller will all be available in the game.

One of the biggest reveals was a brief teaser that confirmed that the legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter, Boba Fett, will be featured in the game. The scene takes place just after Starkiller's escape from the cloning facilities on the planet Kamino. Fett is negotiating the terms of his contract with Darth Vader, who has hired him to chase down Starkiller. The bounty hunter demands a squad of expendable storm troopers, and Vader does him one better as two nimble warriors and a giant arachnid mech creep in from just off-screen, much to the hired gun's satisfaction.

Blackman also spent a good deal of time outlining plot points from the early part of the game.
